Thanksgiving is coming

How much do you know about Thanksgiving?

"Thanksgiving is one of the best known American holidays.  It comes from the days of the Pilgrims and the Indians in the New England region when they would gather together and give thanks for the good harvest of the season.  The typical foods for the Thanksgiving meals are those that came from the harvest (apples, corn, turkey, potatoes, cranberries, etc…)."

Thanksgiving continues to be a very important holiday in the US when families make every effort to come together and celebrate the holiday in a family member´s home.  On an interesting note, the Friday after Thanksgiving has gained international fame as well due to the incredible amount of shopping and sales available that day.  It has been called Black Friday since it is one of the few days of the year when the stores`s sales exceed their costs and thus putting their numbers "in the black".  It has gotten so competitive that every year there are incidents where shoppers have been injured or trampled waiting to get into the stores when they open.  The stores have changed their operating hours so that some of them even open at midnight on Thursday night."
